Recently Condon & others at Syzygy have increased postings concerning the possibility of a big damanging Southern Californnia quake arriving soon. For example:

Frank Condon use to point out the gradual cross over of quakes from the San Jaunto Fault to the Elsinoir fault. I am scared I see a cross over to the Newport-Inglewood fault which currently has three small quakes on it. A lot of people live on/near that fault line.

Hope I'm not messing up here by listing this cluster on California's thread, as actually they were in Mexico but are considered the Gulf of California. Cut me some slack, I'm just temping in for our trusty regular watchers, who must be busy picking up their broken dishes or prepping (?)

I did notice some of those, but I was busy prepping, George Ure says a Solar filament may let loose this week, and full Moon is this weekend. Right now I am changing over to LED bulb flashlights, out with the old, in with the new, and bought a bag of candles today as well.

That is a swarm of hefty proportions. The plate is on the move, to be certain....on both sides of the ocean. Including volcanic activity.
I agree with M...we've got opportunity inbound, this could be a major quake scenario.
Thanks for keeping up slim!

If you're prepping and like LED lights, then you might like the Energizer Weather Ready LED Lantern. I have two of them. I paid about $20.00 for each one at Lowes or Home Depot.

Oh yeah thirty, eye-popping covers it!
Saw a good sized quake around Easter Island a couple days ago too. I've always thought that area was a bellwether of sorts. No solid reasoning, just intuition. Remember there was a quake there just a short while before the huge Chile quake earlier this year, think I listed it then under Easter Island.
Mizar, take care - be safe and well, all my friends!

You're right about the area slim.
It's the "backbone" of the Pac Plate...an area where a few tectonic plates meet...and the movement of the plate dictates the action of the various faults adjacent.
Keep your eye on this area all the down to the Scotia Plate, between S. America and Antartica.

Researchers now say San Andreas could see 8.1 quake
Keith Matheny • The Desert Sun • October 21, 2010
The Big One,” a potential major earthquake on the San Andreas fault that runs through the Coachella Valley, could be stronger and rupture a much longer section of the fault than previously thought possible, a new study has found.
The study by UC Irvine and Arizona State University researchers found an increased likelihood of what was once dismissed as nearly unthinkable — a whopping 8.1-magnitude mega-quake rupturing a 340-mile section from the Salton Sea all the way up to Monterey County.
“This data has just made the bigger one a bit more likely,” U.S. Geological Survey seismologist Lucy Jones said. . . .

Here's a pop, this hour, Mag 4.3, 30 miles SE of South Lake Tahoe, 01:02 UT with a 2.9 and a 1.6 aftershock.
Another, a 3.1 near Barstow, 00:42 UT.
Could be pre-quakes, watch out for Sunrise, Sunday.

Another 3.0, South Lake Tahoe area, note, 5 minutes ago, it is rare for an aftershock to be larger magnitude than a previous aftershock ( the 2.9)
This bears watching for awhile tonight.
