Dozens dead from earthquake in Turkey
Ivan Watson and Yesim Comert, CNN
March 8, 2010

Istanbul, Turkey (CNN) -- A pre-dawn earthquake collapsed homes and killed at least 38 people in a mountainous region of southeastern Turkey on Monday, government officials said.

About 100 people were injured when the magnitude-5.8 earthquake struck at 4:32 a.m., according to officials.

The quake struck in Elazig province, with the village of Okcular the worst hit, according to Ozcan Yalcin, the press secretary for the province's governor.

About five hours later, a magnitude-5.5 aftershock shook the region, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. That followed at least 40 other aftershocks up to 4.4 magnitude, the prime minister's press office said.

No casualties were reported immediately after the aftershocks.

At least 38 people were killed in the initial quake, Kovancilar Mayor Bekir Yanilmaz told CNN Turk, CNN's sister network.

"Many houses have collapsed," the prime minister's office said.

"Search and rescue teams have been sent to the area," the prime minister's office added. The Turkish Red Crescent also is sending tents and blankets, while additional ambulances are being brought from neighboring districts.

Turkish television showed injured residents being rushed to hospitals, and paramilitary officers, police and civilians digging with shovels in the rubble of collapsed buildings.

The country lies on active fault lines and is periodically pummeled by deadly earthquakes. In 1999, two powerful earthquakes hit heavily populated areas near Turkey's largest city, Istanbul, killing at least 20,000 people.

Watching the world....

Yep, saw this ....I haven't been over to the Frank Condon site yet...

Did he give any warnings about this?  I might be on to something here....I'm not certain yet.  Will require some time to check out a theory I have.  There  are some unusual (bigtime) seismic events afoot right now.

There might be a pattern....I'm uncertain about the validity (or probability) of what I'm seeing ....

I'll add to this once I have something  concrete to present.  Which won't be too long, if I can provide some proof to match the theory.

I haven't been over to the Frank Condon site yet. . . .  Did he give any warnings about this?  . . . .  There  are some unusual (bigtime) seismic events afoot right now.
Frank Condon detects & uses his "high amplitude remote MT Trigger Pulses" to investigate eq predictions.  These are his latest posted detections:

High Amplitude Remote MT Trigger Pulse Detected: 11.8 Units
« on: Today [3/08/10] at 01:37:34 AM »
Just detected another High Amplitude Remote MT Trigger Pulse. This one measured 11.8 Peak Units and occurred shortly after 08:00 (UT).

High Amplitude Remote MT Trigger Pulse Detected: 12.8 Units
« on: March 05, 2010, 06:18:11 AM »
There was another high amplitude Remote MT Trigger Pulse Detected between  07:00 and 09:00 (UT) . . . [3/6/2010]. It's peak amplitude measured 12.8 Units of regional lithospheric stress.

also from Frank Condon:

There were several X-Ray Solar Flares just prior to the detection of the 12.8 Unit MT Pulsation. Apparently the crust at depth has just about had enough solar flux injection to cause plenty of triggering along the Cir Cum Pacific Ring of Fire. The M6.6 aftershock may have played a role in the time period immediately after the detection of one of the highest amplitude pulsations observed during the past several years.  So far this month, there have been eight strong global earthquakes, and approximately 60 moderate magnitude seismic events, including the aftershocks of the M8.8 main shock in Chile, which occurred last month

iagree  Seems the magnitude 5+ have increased quite a bit (probably over the last year & more).  Today (last 24 hr) there have been more 5+ mag quakes than any of the last 7 days.  Today's total:  15  Shocked  (Many of the following may be concidered aftershocks but  there were many 'aftershocks' on the other days too.)

This is from Jack Cole's section of Syzygy @  http://camel.he.net/~syzygyq/new_site//index.php?option=com_smf&Itemid=35&topic=257293.0

Jack received 7 Main Signals yesterday (03/07) but was unable to call.  Therefore, dates for this forecast are dated to reflect this.  Also, it should be noted that these signals represent a NEW signal area, exact location unknown.

Region:  Lower half of the Southernmost States of the U.S. south and east into the Haiti and Greater Antilles areas and Northernmost South America. (May be near Haiti or North of Haiti)
Area:  Same line as Haiti and Chile
Magnitude/% Probability:  5.0 to 6.5+ magnitude/ 54% probability
Date Window:  March 7, 2010 to March 23, 2010
Most Likely Dates:  March 10, 15, 22,23, 2010 (PDT)

Thanks for the post shy!

I've gotta agree with him this time, for certain.  Maybe even higher mag than what the sensors are predicted.  Most interesting about the inability to peg the spot.
